Hybrid information event: Bavarian-Japanese Chips Cooperation
Date: 28 July 2025
Location: Hightech Innovation Center Munich of Würth Elektronik eiSos, Clarita-Bernhard-Strasse 9, 81249 Munich
Duration: 09:00 - 14:00
Japan is the fourth largest economy in the world by nominal GDP and plays a leading role in the Asia-Pacific region. Technology, the automotive industry and electronics are regarded as the main pillars of the Japanese economy.
With a trade volume of well over seven billion euros, Japan is Bavaria's second most important Asian trading partner. With around 450 Japanese branches and around 8000 Japanese living here, Bavaria is now a stronghold of Japanese companies in Germany.
Japan is an attractive co-operation partner for Bavarian companies and research facilities, particularly in the semiconductor and automotive sectors. The three Bavarian clusters Bavarian Chips Alliance, Cluster Automotive and Cluster Power Electronics are pooling their activities to jointly motivate Bavarian companies and universities to proactively approach co-operation with Japanese partners. We are grateful for the continuing support of the Japanese Consulate General in Munich, JETRO and the Cluster Offensive of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs.
As a result of our first networking event in May 2025, three main topics of interest regarding the cooperation between Bavaria and Japan were identified by more than 60 attendees:
- Innovation and development
semiconductors, AI, power modules, wide-band-gap, automotive...
- Resilience of supply chains
stable suppliers and distributors, alternative solutions like ASICs...
- Talent training
from researcher exchange to inter-company employee training
In the coming event each of these topics will be shortly addressed by an impulse presentation followed by a workshop to describe specific options for cooperation and identify common ground.
The aim is to bring together several interest groups to prepare for a future event with bilateral matchmaking.
Each participant will be welcomed to describe its company or university/research institute in a brief profile. These profiles will be made accessible to all participants.
Participation fee
149,- € for companies.
Free participation for university members
It is possible to book a stand in the ac[1]companying exhibition (approx. 4m²). costs: 450,- € incl. participation for up to two people.
